The whole world is protesting this week it seems: Spain, Cairo, Mexico. Immense protests. You would hardly know from scanning most US news outlets.
Here are several stories from citizen journalist Autumn Smith:
I live in the town and about 600 feet from the river where this happened: Oil clouds the Kalamazoo River, enters Kalamazoo Co. $3.7 million dollars in fines is not enough if you ask me - I have been living this Black Gold Nightmare for 2 years. Not fun at all. It is basic cost/benefit analysis. So long as the penalties for doing wrong remain ridiculously low, relative to corporate profits, they shall never place the environment or the populace in general as a priority.

Can you say fascist? While I am no rube and think the Olympics free of political overtones, this seriously has a ring of the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. Feels unnecessarily militaristic. At least during the Cold War, they made an effort to deny the politicization of the Olympics (although the Boycott by Carter really sucked, and proved nothing).
I think its the beret. As that he is holding the National Ensign, he is not an artist, unless this is performance art. Rather the beret makes makes him look like one of the Guardian Angels from the NY subways from back in the day, or an extremely fashionable member of special forces. :)
